Holy Crap!

The latest edition of Soiled and Seeded features a piece on the work of SOIL, a non-profit organization dedicated to rebuilding Haiti's soil. Through the use of dry, composting toilets (Ecological Sanitation) human waste is transformed into compost. Filmmaker Jenny Benorden and her team went to Haiti to capture the organization's work and created the documentary Holy Crap!

According to Benorden, the production of the compost "has a multi-tiered positive impact on communities throughout Haiti, as it simultaneously cleans up a wide variety of public health issues, energizes agricultural yield in a country where malnutrition claims many lives, and stimulates the local economy by providing jobs for Haitians."
